Why Touchcast?
Touchcast gave me an opportunity to widen my horizons by working with new technology and developing new ideas everyday. As a former game developer and a game enthusiast, it’s very interesting for me to use what I’ve learned from my previous work and apply it outside of the gaming world. I'm also very excited for the opportunity to gain new perspective and ideas from this new venture. Touchcast has also driven me to step up to lead a group of talented individuals to design and build towards technological advancement.

What changed in your approach to your role since you joined Touchcast?
Once I began working more closely with other international teams at Touchcast, my role became more challenging. In addition to managing my own local team, I now needed to be mindful of the Touchcast community as a whole. Each individual now has a strong sense of responsibility to achieve the larger group goal. Because of this, my focus has shifted from solely development to also managing the team’s output in coordination with the others. Though it can be challenging working with so many minds, it also presents much more room for growth and creativity!
What part of your childhood relates to your work at Touchcast?
I’ve always loved playing video games and I’ve been immersed in the digital world from a very young age. I’m very fond of the different visuals, art, engineering, and science that make up a game. All my gaming experience has led me to become adept in several programs in tech. The idea of technology constantly growing and evolving through the years is very exciting to me.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in...(your role)?
Touchcast is fast paced so being proactive and being able to adjust to various situations is a great quality to have. Always be eager also to watch, absorb, and learn new techniques. Having a positive mindset on how you deal with problems and how you are able to produce solutions will help as well. Finally, teamwork makes the gears run smoothly. Being a leader doesn’t mean that you have subordinates. You are part of a team - work together to achieve amazing results.
How do you make the most out of working remotely?
Working at home is a huge advantage for me because commuting here in the Philippines usually takes a lot of time due to traffic. I can use this time to do other activities that help boost my daily productivity instead. With working remotely, I can manage my time properly and focus more to produce better results at work. Also, having my setup at the comforts of my own home feels less stressful than working long hours in a loud, hectic office.
What is something outside of work you’re irrationally passionate about?
Dancing has always been a part of me. You can see simple dancing moves while working or even just while strolling down the street. Another passion is streaming games. It’s something I really would like to continue since I like talking to people and sharing my experiences and techniques in gaming.
